Marchers in Chicago’s Dyke March, a progressive LGBT march, wove Palestinian Liberation Organization flags on Sunday after banning Jewish marchers from carrying flags with Jewish stars on them in 2017, according to a Tuesday article from Haaretz.

Marchers carried PLO flags while chanting “Viva El Barrio!,” as can be seen in a video published on YouTube by the Windy City Times on Sunday. Some marchers also carried a large banner urging people to “fight for socialism.” (RELATED: Presbyterians Lambaste Israel, Shy Away From Criticizing Hamas)

The Chicago Dyke March “is a grassroots mobilization and celebration of dyke, queer, bisexual, and transgender resilience. It is an anti-racist, anti-violent, volunteer-led, grassroots effort,” according to the march’s website.

The PLO advocates for violence in its charter, stating that it is “a national duty” for Arab nations to “mobilize all [their] military, human, moral, and spiritual capabilities … particularly in the phase of the armed Palestinian revolution.”

The Dyke March infamously turned away three marchers carrying rainbow flags with a Jewish star on them in 2017 because of the flag’s “similarity to the Israeli flag,” according to the Tuesday Haaretz article.
