The Republican Party of North Carolina withdrew its support of a candidate for the state’s legislature after the discovery of his incendiary website that declares God is “racist” because he created the races.
“What is wrong with being a white supremacist? God is a racist and a white supremacist,” according to the website owned by Russell Walker, who won the Republican nomination for the 48th North Carolina House District in May.
The North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) withdrew its support of Walker Tuesday after the evidence of his views resurfaced.
“The North Carolina Republican House Caucus and our members will not support Mr. Walker’s campaign given his comments and actions,” Republican Rep. John Szoka, conference chairman of the North Carolina House Republican Caucus, said Wednesday. “While Mr. Walker won the Republican primary, his rhetoric and actions have no place in the Republican Party, and he should strongly consider withdrawing his candidacy.”
“Based on recent behavior and previous statements, the North Carolina Republican Party is unable and unwilling to support the Republican nominated candidate for North Carolina House District 48,” NCGOP chairman Robin Hayes said in a statement reported Wednesday by the Charlotte Observer. Walker claimed the website, christdescendedfromjoseph.com, was his in a July 2016 letter to the Highlands Newspaper, which serves a small community in the Appalachian mountains. Walker argued in that letter that equality among men is a myth, that diversity is a modern term for invasion and an attack on western civilization, and that if there are hate crimes, “then logically there must be love crimes.”
“Someone or group has to be supreme and that group is the whites of the world … someone or something has to be inferior … In all history in sub-Saharan Africa, no two-story building or a waterproof boat was ever made,” according to Walker’s website.
The site also has a page dedicated to the “Worship of satan via the I.R.S.,” in which Walker rails against Jewish people.
“One also has to realise [sic] that all jews [sic] are the children of Satan,” he wrote. “Cain being the first jew as a result of Satan raping Eve in the Garden of Eden and Cain being the first seed of Satan.”
Walker also called Martin Luther King Jr. an “agent of Satan” who “wanted to destroy the Caucasian race through mixing and integration” after a court dismissed his lawsuit to return Confederate flags to a South Carolina courtroom in 2017.
Walker won the nomination to the state seat with 64 percent of the vote, gaining a total of 824 votes in the primary.
The incumbent in the seat, Democrat Rep. Garland Pierce, who is black, has held the seat since 2005, and in the latest 2016 election ran unopposed.
Walker did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
