Scotland’s newly chosen education minister was sacked for a number of unseemly comments she made in 2007 only one day after the country announced her upcoming appointment.

The former education minister, Gillian Martin, was announced as the junior minister for universities, colleges and science Wednesday by the current first minister of Scotland and leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), Nicola Sturgeon. Martin was tasked with providing further educational opportunities for minorities.

Martin was stripped from the newly confirmed role after remarks she made about transgender persons and minorities in a 2007 blog surfaced, The Times reported. She referred to transgender persons as “hairy knuckled lipstick-wearing transitional laydees” in one post and wrote that American Jews “tip ok but only after you’ve absolutely busted your hump” in another. (RELATED: CBS Legal Exec Fired For Vegas Shooting Hot Take)

“American blacks don’t tip at all or tip next to nothing,” she also wrote, adding that waiters do “anything to avoid serving a table of blacks or be openly disappointed if allocated to one.” Martin also described European Union equality initiative funding as a “tranny trove” in 2016, but few outlets reported the comments.

Martin issued an apology and stated that her remarks 11 years ago were inappropriate and that she takes full responsibility for the unsavory comments. “I used language that was inappropriate and offensive,” she said, the Evening Express reported. She explained that she deleted the blog a long time ago after realizing that it’s content was not acceptable. “I recognise that these posts should never have been published in the first place. That is entirely my responsibility and I am deeply sorry,” she said.

Conservative party members jumped at the opportunity to point out the SNP’s shortcomings. “We knew the SNP government was complacent and tired — now we know … that they are incompetent too,” said Scottish Conservative party leader Ruth Davidson. “Instead it has only served to remind us why they are failing schools and our public services.”
