The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will be introducing a campaign on Monday to push back against the tariffs President Donald Trump has implemented.

Using a state-by-state analysis, the campaign argues that Trump is putting U.S. consumers at risk by possibly starting a global trade war, according to Reuters.

“The administration is threatening to undermine the economic progress it worked so hard to achieve,” Tom Donohue, the Chamber of Commerce president, told Reuters. “We should seek free and fair trade, but this is just not the way to do it.” (RELATED: Canada Hits Back At US With Tariffs On $13 Billion In Goods)

Trump has argued that tariffs are needed in order to offset U.S. trade deficits. He has since implemented billions of dollars of tariffs on steel, aluminum and other commodities aimed at Canada, China, Mexico and the European Union. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross previously explained that the tariffs are in the interest of national security, but the chamber is pushing back.

Countries are starting to retaliate against Trump’s tariff policies. Most recently, Canada enacted $12.5 billion in tariffs on U.S. exports as a response on Sunday.

The Chamber of Commerce, a business lobbying goliath, represents more than 3 million businesses and has historically aligned with the Republican party.
