MSNBC morning host Joe Scarborough published an op-ed in the Washington Post on Monday titled “Stop Mourning, Democrats” regarding the current state of the Democratic Party.

“These electoral aftershocks are more political proof that Democrats must face the ugly truth that their cataclysmic losses in 2016 were not caused by Fox News, Susan Sarandon, Vladimir Putin, the New York Times’ email stories or the sudden spread of racism in Midwestern states carried twice by Barack Obama,” he wrote.

“Rather, their shellacking was the result of a lackluster presidential campaign that had no coherent message, ignored warnings from Democratic leaders and forgot to visit Wisconsin,” Scarborough added.

Scarborough’s comments are about a Democratic Party that is sputtering. They have picked fights with President Trump on everything from MS-13 and immigration, to confronting administration officials in public, but are getting mounting backlash in response.

“Blaming Hillary Clinton for the party’s demise is too easy,” the “Morning Joe” host continued. “More than 18 months after that inexcusable loss, Clinton’s party still lacks a winning national message and has yet to find a candidate younger than 77 to replace Republican Speaker Paul D. Ryan.”
