Former CIA Director John Brennan compared President Donald Trump to notorious financial fraudster Bernie Madoff Thursday evening, calling the pair “remarkably unethical.”

“You are to governance & politics what Bernie Madoff was to the stock market & investment advice. The two of you share a remarkably unethical ability to deceive & manipulate others, building Ponzi schemes to aggrandize yourselves. Truth & justice ultimately caught up with Bernie,” Brennan tweeted Thursday evening.

Brennan is responding to a tweet from the president in which he thanked Republican leadership in Congress for working to pass his agenda and making sure America is “WINNING” and “RESPECTED” again.

“Thanks to REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP, America is WINNING AGAIN – and America is being RESPECTED again all over the world. Because we are finally putting AMERICA FIRST!” Trump tweeted.

The president gave a speech in Montana Thursday night to campaign for GOP Senate candidate Matt Rosendale’s campaign against sitting Democratic Sen. Jon Tester. (RELATED: Jon Tester Runs Montana Ad Thanking Trump)

Bernie Madoff, arguably the most infamous leader of a ponzi scheme of all time, was only ordered to pay a $10 million bail for scheme that embezzled some $20 billion over its lifetime. (RELATED: Trump Judge Slaps $4 Billion Bail On Murderer)
