Host of Fox Business’s “Varney & Co.” Stuart Varney said the Democratic Party is being taken over by socialists who want to buy people’s votes for cash.

“As the socialist wing of the Democrat Party gains more and more influence, you’re going to hear more and more about ideas of replacing conventional welfare,” Varney said on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday. “Just replace it with a cash gift to people. Just replace welfare with a cash gift. That’s what they want. I call it vote-buying, because that’s essentially what they are doing.” (RELATED: Stuart Varney Defends Trump’s China Tariffs: ‘Ongoing Negotiation’)

“Vote for me, and you get cash. That’s a winning political proposition,” he continued.

Varney claimed the effort is being driven by wealthy power brokers like Mark Zuckerberg and said it’s un-American to offer people money for nothing.

“You got people like Mark Zuckerberg — the founder of Facebook, he is involved in this. He is pushing for this kind of cash giveaway program,” Varney said. “Even more extreme is something called the universal basic income. That’s where every single adult from 18 or whatever it is, 21 to 64 would get 500 to $1,000 per month. Just everybody gets it.”

“It’s immoral. It’s un-American,” Varney concluded. “In this country, you want money, you work for it. You don’t just take it from the government as a handout because that is dependency. This is the United States of America. You want it, you work for it. You climb the food chain. You put your brains, talent and drive and ability to work and you make money. Is there something wrong with that?”
