MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, was “as good a selection as any Republican president could make” on Tuesday.

“It does make it more difficult for Democrats, Mike, to paint him as a wild-eyed fanatic,” Scarborough stated.

“It also puts the Republicans — the two Republicans thinking of voting against a nominee — in a very difficult position, as it does the three or four Democrats thinking that they would — might — plausibly vote against him, too,” he continued.

President Trump nominated Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Monday night. If confirmed, he will be replacing the oft-deciding voter Justice Anthony Kennedy.(RELATED: PRESIDENT TRUMP’S SUPREME COURT PICK IS IN)

“This is a qualified guy — a guy qualified for this job. This is a guy who’s been supported by President Bush, by Jeb Bush, by John McCain,” Willie Giest, another “Morning Joe” host, stated.

“Conventional Republicans, establishment Republicans. Not a wild-eyed choice, and probably smart by President Trump because it makes it difficult on Democrats when they say the world is coming to an end because of his Supreme Court pick,” Geist added.

It was clear before Trump even announced his selection that Democrats would be protesting his choice. Dem Senator Bob Casey from Pennsylvania preemptively said that he wouldn’t support any nominee because “it represents a corrupt bargain with the far Right.”
