Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found herself in hot water after she bungled a number of softball interview questions on the PBS show ‘Firing Line’ on Friday.

Ocasio-Cortez, the new darling of the Democratic party, did not show command of basic economic and geopolitical issues.

Host Margaret Hoover asked very basic questions about Ocasio-Cortez’s positions on the economy. In particular, Hoover asked if capitalism is responsable for the currently booming US economy and low unemployment.

“Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs,” Ocasio-Cortez explained, adding that “Capitalism has not always existed in the world and will not always exist in the world.”

Ocasio-Cortez also claimed that Israel was occupying Palestinian land — but when pressed to elaborate on her comment, Ocasio-Cortez demurred, ultimately admitting that she was not an expert on the issue.

Economic experts have called Ocasio-Cortez’s claims regarding the economy “false” and “uninformed.” Hard economic data also proves her “two jobs” theory incorrect.

In an ironic twist, just two weeks before the bungling interview, Ocasio-Cortez had been bragging on twitter about her economics degree and wondering if her assumed future House colleagues would be able to match her educational prowess. In a tweet, the socialist asked “Wondering: How many other House Democrats have a degree in Economics like I do? Trying to find who out here is going to be in the Gini Coefficient Appreciation Squad.”

Ocasio-Cortez graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences just a six years ago.
