Democratic Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison scrutinized the Democratic National Committee and its chairman Tom Perez for influencing primary elections in an interview with Rabbi Michael Lerner on Wednesday.

WATCH:

“I will oppose that I think it’s absolutely wrong and I don’t think that it is the proper role of DNC to tell any candidate that they should drop out of the race,” Ellison said in the interview. “The DCCC leadership has on occasion been caught telling candidates that they shouldn’t run or should drop out of the race.”

“I maintain now and will continue to maintain that the Democratic National Committee should have absolutely no roll in a primary,” Ellison added.

A candidate for Minnesota’s Attorney General, Ellison continued: “My thought is stop it, let the election shake out. Let the election be determined by the people that vote.”

He did not specify a particular race that the DNC influenced. (RELATED: Keith Ellison Claims National Borders Create ‘An Injustice’)

The DNC undermined Vermont Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders’ campaign while he was going up against the eventual party nominee Hillary Clinton.
