Ever since the Amazon Echo proliferated in American households, “smart home” devices have become all the rage. The Ring Video doorbell, for example, is one of the best new security developments out there.

This Prime Day, I’ve stumbled upon another example of a smart home device – it’s called Rachio, and it’s a “smart” sprinkler. The video below will explain it much better than I can, but the basic idea is that it uses satellite data to only water your plants when necessary. It knows when it is going to rain and will adjust accordingly. Because of this, it promises to save you up to 50 percent on your outdoor watering bill.

And, to save you even more money, it is $100 off for Prime Day:

Unsurprisingly, people have loved the Rachio and how much money it has saved them. It has over 2,300 customer reviews, and 85 percent of them are percent 5 out of 5 stars. That’s good for a 4.6-star rating!

It’s also important to note that the reviewers say over and over again how easy the Rachio is to install. And that includes connecting it to your Amazon Echo! Doesn’t seem like there are any downsides with this “smart” device.
