Republican strategist Peter Lumaj, who fled Albania to come to America 30 years ago, spoke out against socialism on “Fox & Friends” Monday and warned against the rise of socialism within the Democratic Party.

“You cannot have a Democratic socialism. Socialism is coercion,” Lumaj said. “Socialism is forced. You cannot establish a system that people don’t want without using power.” (RELATED: Democratic Socialists Pushing Free Cash Giveaways)

Lumaj said when the Communists came to Albania in the 1940s, they disarmed its citizens and eliminated freedom of speech. He also claimed they forced people to comply with their laws through torture and imprisonment and said his father was tortured to death.

“Anyone who disagreed with them was subjected to arrest. To tortures, to interment camps. My family paid a price because of that,” Lumaj continued. “Because we disagreed with the socialist regime. My entire family was taken to a consecration camp where my father was tortured to death.”

He marveled at how young people in America could be drawn to the failures of socialism and warned if more people don’t speak up, socialism will suffocate the United States.

“I don’t get it, how the younger generation of the United States would embrace a system that has failed all over the world,” Lumaj concluded. “Unless ordinary folks like you and I get involved and push back, socialism is coming to the United States and it’s not going to look good for our children and grandchildren.”
