A Texas doctor born in Nigeria was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was charged with sexually assaulting several of his patients, including a 71-year-old woman with a physical disability.

The doctor, Donald Ozumba, 45, was found guilty in court Friday and was charged with aggravated sexual assault of an elderly person, according to The New York Post. Ozumba also allegedly sexually assaulted nine patients and was involved with inappropriate sexual contact with others. He originally faced life in prison.

While prosecutors were asking for a 45-year prison sentence for Ozumba, his lawyers were arguing he should have been let off on probation, arguing he made accidental contact with the patients. After 10 hours, the jury and judge came to the agreement that 10 years would be a fair sentence. However, Ozumba still faces six other sexual assault cases. (RELATED: WOMEN FILING LAWSUIT AGAINST USC OVER FORMER GYNECOLOGIST’S ALLEGED SEXUAL ABUSE)

Ozumba lost his license to practice medicine in the future and will have to register as a sex offender.
