Journalist Megyn Kelly claimed Thursday that the Oscars would get better ratings if they stopped making “political speeches” during the ceremony.

Kelly, the host of NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today,” said that comedian Jimmy Kimmel shouldn’t be allowed to host future Academy Awards shows since he openly shows disdain for Republicans, Raw Story reported.

“If the Oscars want better ratings, they should really consider stopping the political speeches,” Kelly said during an episode of “Megyn Kelly Today.” “I think a lot of us don’t tune in to hear — get a lecture on politics. We’re looking to have a moment of escaping. We want to hear politics, we turn to cable news.”

Kimmel hosted the 90th Academy Awards on March 4, according to USA Today.

“I know people love Jimmy, but he’s openly said he has disdain for Republicans, that they’re stupid,” Kelly added. “And he doesn’t want them watching his shows if they disagree with any of their opinions.”

Kimmel said that Republicans can’t host talk shows because they are too stupid, during a live event for “Pod Save America” in February. (RELATED: Seth Meyers Roasts NBC Colleague Megyn Kelly)

Kimmel also said “good riddance” to Republicans if they stopped watching his show, during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning in 2017.
