Attorney Michael Avenatti fired off a series of tweets on Tuesday after learning that Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, was planning to make a deal with prosecutors. In addition to praising his client, Stephanie Clifford (better known as Stormy Daniels), Avenatti fired warning shots at both President Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Avenatti set the stage by crediting Daniels with bravery for coming forward, and claimed that “history will rightfully treat her as a hero for what lies ahead.”

Avenatti then set his sights on former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, saying that Trump had “misplayed” the situation and urging him to “buckle up.”

He also warned that Cohen’s deal could allow the stay to be lifted in the civil case against Trump, claiming that could open the door to deposing the president under oath.

The stay on his civil case against Trump has kept Avenatti off the cable news shows in recent weeks, but he has kept busy raising money for Democrats and eyebrows over hints at a possible presidential run.
