“Malone and his team left from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey Tuesday headed to London,” TMZ reports. “A law enforcement source at Teterboro tells us the private plane’s tires blew off during takeoff and the pilot circled back around to perform an emergency landing.”
Below is emergency ATC audio obtained by TMZ:
The plane is circling the Connecticut coast in an attempt to run the 3,700-gallon fuel tank empty before it’s forced to make a crash landing. This practice is standard in most intentional jet crashes so as to minimize a potential fuel fire once the plane hits the ground.
The Gulf Stream is expected to attempt its crash landing in Westfield, Massachusetts. There are 16 people aboard the jet.
We will update the story as more details come out.
