On today’s Daily Daily Caller Podcast we talk about the three big breaking stories from Wednesday evening – the guilty verdicts against Paul Manafort, the guilty pleas by Michael Cohen, and the murder of Millie Tibbetts and how the media will spin, lie about, or ignore each of them.

Manafort, the short-term campaign chairman for President Trump’s 2016 campaign was convicted on 8 of 18 charges in Virginia, all related to banking and tax laws. The media will make sure to mention Manafort’s short stint with the Trump campaign, brought in specifically to ensure the convention was not subject to revolt (a job he handled successfully before being fired over questions of his work as a lobbyist for foreign governments years earlier). What won’t be mentioned nearly as often, if ever, is the fact that all the charges stem from actions Manafort engaged it years before he’d ever met Donald Trump. It’s guilt by association coupled with omission of relevant facts to paint the President as somehow associated with a guilty person’s actions. Journalists know what they’re doing, but it’s not really lying if they don’t tell the whole story…or so they’d say.

Michael Cohen pled guilty to his own tax and bank charges, and also campaign finance law violations related to payoffs to two women to allegedly keep the quiet about what they claim were affairs with Trump in 2006. But was this really illegal? If campaign funds were used to reimburse Cohen, maybe. But it’s not illegal for an individual, any individual, to pay someone to sign a non-disclosure agreement on any topic. Even a presidential candidate can do it. This fact hasn’t stopped journalists and Democrats (but I repeat myself) from conflating the two to confuse and mislead the American public. We sort through it all.

And the body of Mollie Tibbetts, the 20-year-old Iowa college student, was found when a man led police to it on a corn field. The man, who essentially confessed to the murder, is a 24-year-old illegal alien. That means this story will soon be memory-holed by the media – the liberal narrative would be too upset by the facts of the case, so they’ll pretend it doesn’t exist. But how many Americans have to die before liberals start to care? Mollie would still be alive if her murderer were not in the country. That’s an inconvenient truth leftists don’t want to address.
