Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich will be skipping a Republican fundraising dinner in Ohio Friday where President Donald Trump will be the headline speaker.

Kasich’s spokesman told The Associated Press that the Ohio governor will not attend the event in his home state, but did not elaborate. Kasich and Trump have constantly disagreed with each other dating back to the 2016 Republican presidential primary election.

Since Trump has been in office, Kasich has continued to criticize the president and has also blamed GOP and Democratic leadership alike for many of the problems in Washington, D.C. (RELATED: John Kasich Is So Desperate To Oppose Trump, He’s Supporting A Biased Press [VIDEO])

GOP spokesman Blaine Kelly said Trump’s appearance at the event will help Ohio Republican candidates in the Nov. 6 midterm elections. Trump is reportedly the first president in office to speak at the dinner.

Kasich’s team did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
