White House Chief of Staff John Kelly allegedly summed up working for President Donald Trump by saying “We’re in Crazytown,” according to a forthcoming book on Trump’s presidency by journalist Bob Woodward.

“[Trump’s] an idiot,” Woodward claims Kelly said, according to The Washington Post. “It’s pointless to try to convince him of anything. He’s gone off the rails. We’re in Crazytown. I don’t even know why any of us are here. This is the worst job I’ve ever had.”

Woodward’s 448-page book “Fear: Trump in the White House,” which will be available Sept. 11, relies on “deep background” sources including administration officials, according to WaPo.

“Fear” also alleges that Kelly struggled to control his temper and called Trump “unhinged,” according to WaPo. This is not the first time leaks have claimed Kelly has called Trump an “idiot” and made similar comments. Kelly weathered an NBC story that made similar claims in April.

Woodward is an associate editor at WaPo and said he spent hundreds of hours interviewing unnamed sources and perusing diaries and government documents. The author tried to speak to Trump but was not able to connect with him until August, which was “after the manuscript had been completed,” according to WaPo.

“I would have loved to have spoken to you,” Trump said, according to audio of the recorded phone call on WaPo(RELATED: Trump’s Alleged Two-Word Nickname For Obama Is Not Good)

Nobody had told Trump that Woodward wanted to get in touch with him, the president told Woodward.
