Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz blasted Democrats protesting the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after Tuesday’s hearing.

“I think they’re a reflection of the anger and the rage we see on the far left, many of whom remain angry at the American people for electing Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton,” Cruz said to The Daily Caller News Foundation in the Hart Senate office building immediately after the hearing ended.

The Texas Republican was referring to the nearly 20 protesters inside Tuesday’s hearing who were removed and arrested just 30 minutes after the hearing began.

“I don’t think this represents the majority of Americans. But it’s clear that that the far left feels a real fury and hatred and that was that was manifested Today,” Cruz said in an exchange that last just under a minute.  (RELATED: Liz Warren Supports Protesters Who Interrupted Kavanaugh Hearing, Wants Them To Stay)

Cruz has been a strong proponent of Kavanaugh since President Donald Trump made the decision. However, the Texas Republican did fervently push the president and the administration to consider his friend and colleague Sen. Mike Lee of Utah for the nomination.

“It’s the president’s prerogative to nominate justices under the Constitution,” Cruz told TheDCNF on July 10. “President Trump has nominated Judge Kavanaugh and by any measure he’s one of the most respected federal judges in the country and I’m confident he will be confirmed and confirmed by the first Monday in October the start of the New Jersey Senator.”

Republicans hope to get Kavanaugh confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice before the November 6 midterm elections.
