President Donald Trump trolled former President Barack Obama’s past comments predicting that it would be impossible for U.S. GDP to increase by 4 percent in a Monday tweet.
“President Trump would need a magic wand to get to 4% GDP,” stated President Obama. I guess I have a magic wand, 4.2%, and we will do MUCH better than this! We have just begun.

Trump referenced June 2016 comments by Obama who declared, “He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, what — how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually, the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer.”
Obama was discussing Trump’s June 2016 claim to bring jobs back to the United States.
The president referenced the state of the U.S. economy growing in the second quarter of 2018 by 4.2 percent. Trump often points to the 4.2-percent growth number and other economic indicators to tout the robust strength of the economy under his administration.
