MSNBC host Joe Scarborough released an op-ed on Tuesday morning declaring that president Trump has damaged America more than any terrorist ever could. The publishing of the piece fell on the anniversary of September 11th. In the op-ed, Scarborough writes “For those of us still believing that Islamic extremists hate America because of the freedoms we guarantee to all people, the gravest threat Trump poses to our national security is the damage done daily to America’s image.”

During his show ‘Morning Joe’ on MSNBC, Scarborough doubled down on the assertion, claiming that Trump is “tearing more at the fabric of America far more than the attacks on the Twin Towers did.”

Not surprisingly, many thought the op-ed was insensitive on the anniversary of 9/11. The president’s son Donald Trump Jr. called on Scarborough to apologize. “Joe you owe an apology to the 3000+ families who lost loved ones on this tragic day,” Don Jr. said, “Injecting politics today is disgraceful and only shows how irrelevant and deranged you’ve become.”

Scarborough has issued a pseudo-apology for his op-ed, saying on Twitter “I’ll read the column again and think about whether I could have said the same thing in a way less offensive to Trump supporters on September 11th.”

The Navy SEAL who claims to have shot Osama Bin Laden called Scarborough’s op-ed “disgusting.”

O’Neill also took a shot at Nike’s new ad with Colin Kaepernick by tweeting a 9/11 themed meme of the controversial ad.

Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of the deadliest attack on American soil in history.
