Larry Nassar accuser Rachael Denhollander went after conservatives in a series of tweets Monday over their handling of the sexual assault accusation against Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh.
“Conservatives, you are yelling from the rooftops that you don’t care what the truth is, and you aren’t safe, and you’ll attack a victim any time it would cost you to care. And that’s shameful,” Denhollander tweeted Monday. “You can, and should, do better.”
Denhollander was the first victim to come forward with allegations that U.S. Olympic gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar had assaulted her. After she went public with her allegations, hundreds of other girls and young women came forward to report similar crimes. Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison.
The former doctor assaulted more than 330 young women.
Denhollander continued, writing that if conservatives want to be pro-woman, pro-child, and a proponent of family values, they should “start by taking claims of sexual assault seriously instead of using poor logic, straw men and ad hominems to avoid the issue. Otherwise, you are part of the cultural problem.”
The wife and mother also noted that she is a conservative evangelical and is calling on conservatives to do better because lasting change happens by changing values within your own community. (RELATED: Larry Nassar Files For Resentencing, Blames Judge For Being Biased)
Denhollander also tweeted Monday that conservatives, by their actions, are telling abuse and assault survivors that they are not safe.

Her tweets follow allegations that Kavanaugh tried to force himself on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford when they were both minors. The allegations were first reported by The New Yorker on Sept. 14. California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein sent a letter to the FBI about the allegations on Sept. 13, allowing the claim to gain widespread attention.
“This is a completely false allegation. I have never done anything like what the accuser describes—to her or to anyone,” Kavanaugh said in a Monday statement. Kavanaugh also said he wasn’t at the party that’s been described as the location where the assault occurred.
The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing for Kavanaugh and Ford on Sept. 24.
Denhollander did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
