Joy Behar claimed on Thursday that both Republicans and Democrats are “playing chicken” with regard to the the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Admitting that Republicans have the upper hand, she said both sides are “running out the clock to see who’s going to get their way.”

Behar, along with “The View” cohosts Abby Huntsman and Sunny Hostin, argued that the only real way forward, at this point, is for Blasey Ford to agree to testify before the Senate Judiciary committee.

“In this job as we all know, we take a lot of blowback,” Behar explained. “Half hate you, half like you. That’s how it goes. They write mean things about me all the time, which I enjoy actually. I don’t mind it because I know I’m being effective if somebody is annoyed. So I think that having known what it feels like to get that kind of blowback and how you survive it and you come out stronger and you believe in yourself even more, I think she should do it. She already said I want to do it for the country. Well, she’s going to have to because they are not going to budge.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee has set a deadline of 10 am Friday for Blasey Ford to respond, saying whether or not she will testify on Monday. Several concessions have been afforded her — such as the choice of an open or closed hearing or the possibility of committee members coming to her — but a red line has been drawn with regard to her attorney’s requests for an FBI investigation prior to any testimony.
