The woman accusing Judge Brett Kavanaugh of attempting to sexually assault her over 35 years ago reportedly threatened to leave the country if he was confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Christine Blasey Ford began worrying about her “secret” that Kavanaugh allegedly attacked her when they were teenagers after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement in June, according to her husband, Russell Ford.

“She was like ‘I can’t deal with this. If he becomes the nominee, then I’m moving to another country’,” Russell told The Washington Post. “I cannot live in this country if he’s in the Supreme Court.”

“She wanted out,” he added.

Following President Donald Trump’s announcement that he would be nominating Kavanaugh to replace Kennedy, Christine reportedly began researching other democratic countries where she could relocate with her family — and one country she focused on was New Zealand, according to WaPo. (RELATED: Grassley Gives Kavanaugh Accuser More Time To Decide)

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley repeatedly reached out to Christine asking her to testify about her accusations in front of the committee. Her attorneys replied with a list of conditions, some of which Grassley agreed to accommodate. Grassley extended his deadline Friday by another 24 hours to get a response from Christine on whether or not she will testify Monday. Her lawyers said she would testify during the week of Sept. 24, but didn’t not provide a set date and time.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Debra Katz, Christine’s attorney, regarding whether or not she plans to remain in the United States and did not immediately receive a response in time for publication. This article will be updated should a comment be received.
