Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry now wants people to know he was only joking about the moon landing being fake.

The NBA champion sent shockwaves through the sports world after he claimed America had never been to the moon. His claim resulted in NASA extending him an invite to learn about just how real the moon landing was. Now, the electric shooting guard is trying to convince us it was all a joke. Curry told ESPN the following late Wednesday:

One thousand percent. One thousand percent. Obviously I was joking when I was talking on the podcast. [Then] I was silently protesting how stupid it was that people actually took that quote and made it law as, ‘Oh my God, he’s a fake-moon-landing truther,’ whatever you want to call it, yada, yada, yada. So I was silently protesting that part about it, how the story took a life of its own.

But in terms of the reaction that I’ve gotten, I am definitely going to take [NASA] up on their offer. I am going to educate myself firsthand on everything that NASA has done and shine a light on their tremendous work over the years.

Look, I’m sure it was a joke from the start, but Curry can’t slam it into reverse now. He made a hilarious claim about the moon landing, and he just needs to go down swinging. It’s that simple. Don’t give in an inch.

At this point, it doesn’t matter what he honestly believes. He’s in the trenches in this fight, and he has to stick to his guns that the moon landing was a massive fraud at all costs. There’s simply no other option.

Who are we as a society of people if we backtrack in the face of criticism and just claim stuff was a joke? That’s not what our founding fathers fought for at all.

Now, we just need to get Curry’s take on all the other big time conspiracy theories. I need to know his thoughts on the JFK assassination like I need air in my lungs. Somebody, be my hero and get him on the record with his thoughts on Lee Harvey Oswald.

Don’t think about. Just do it.
