Fox News host Greg Gutfeld fired back at James Comey on Monday after the former FBI director blamed the network for instilling “fear” in House Republicans.

Comey spoke to reporters after his closed-door testimony Monday on Capitol Hill and argued that Republicans are attacking him and the FBI because they want to avoid the wrath of Fox News hosts. (RELATED: House Committees Release James Comey Transcript)

“At some point, someone has to stand up and in the face of fear of Fox News, fear of their base, fear of mean tweets, stand up for the values of this country and not slink away into retirement but stand up and speak the truth,” Comey said. “I find it frustrating to be here answering questions about things that are far less important than the values this country is built upon.”

The hosts of “The Five” responded to Comey’s jabs, including Greg Gutfeld, who called Comey a “disgruntled pit bull.”

“You know, he hurt my feelings. I’m sad that he’s scared of me!” Gutfeld joked.

“This is a charade of honesty, right? He said he was unable to recall something like 250 times. Before, he always talks about how he’s willing to go there, how he’s willing to talk, but then when he sits down he says nothing,” he continued. “He’s the guy who says, ‘sure, I’ll come over and help you move,’ but then when he gets there all he does is drink the beer and then eat the pizza that you paid for but doesn’t lift a finger.”

Gutfeld concluded by noting that Comey posts the mean tweets and platitudes that he accuses others of using, stating, “He’s thinks he’s a boy scout but he’s more like just a disgruntled pit bull.”
