Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s husband Perry Greene filed for divorce Tuesday.

The couple were married in August 1995 and spent 27 years together, the New York Post reported.

“Marjorie has been my best friend for the last 29 years and she has been an amazing mom! Our family is our most important thing we have done,” Perry Greene told TMZ. “As we go on different paths we will continue to focus on our 3 incredible kids and their future endeavors and our friendship.”

The couple have three adult children together, TMZ noted. It’s unclear what specifically led to their separation, but Perry reportedly wants to split up their assets and debts equally, the outlet continued.

“Marriage is a wonderful thing and I’m a firm believer in it. Our society is formed by a husband and wife creating a family to nurture and protect. Together, Perry and I formed our family and raised three great kids. He gave me the best job title you can ever earn: Mom,” the congresswoman told TMZ. “I’ll always be grateful for how great of a dad he is to our children.”

The representative was recently the victim of a swatting incident. A caller claimed to law enforcement that a man had been shot in Greene’s bathtub at her home in Rome, Georgia, and followed up with a second call saying children were present. The local SWAT team showed up at her home to investigate the claims made in the call, all of which were false. A second swatting incident occurred the following day.
