A Chesapeake, Virginia, Walmart store employee shot seven people fatally, including himself, and injured several others Tuesday night, according to authorities.
Six victims died and four were hospitalized, with the suspect dying of what police believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Chesapeake Police Chief Mark Solesky explained at a Wednesday morning press conference streamed by ABC News. The shooter was a Walmart employee and used a pistol, Solesky said. (RELATED: Gov. Youngkin Tears Up After Laying Flowers For UVA Shooting Victims)

“I’m talking about, just left out the breakroom, manager come in there, started capping people up in there,” the employee said.
Solesky said in the press conference that he had not entered the store himself and could not report where the suspect’s body was located inside.
“I am devastated by the senseless act of violence that took place last night in our City,” Chesapeake Mayor Rick West said in a statement shared Wednesday. “Chesapeake is a tightknit community and we are all shaken by this news.”
