As Republicans enjoy a massive victory this week, party leaders should not misunderstand the message of the public. They should not feel too comfortable about their large margin of victory. Indeed, the GOP will be on a very short leash. If they return to the big-government Republican policies of George W. Bush, their reign of power will be incredibly short-lived. (more)

As a candidate for president, Barack Obama promised hope, change and a new direction for America. Unfortunately, the initial hope has turned into despair, while the change has been negative. The idiocy of the Obama administration continues to amaze us, even after eighteen months of leftist policies. After becoming president, Obama sent federal spending into the stratosphere, increasing the burden on future generations of Americans. Sadly, the president has reduced spending for NASA, while boosting spending for almost everything else in the federal government. (more)

With each passing day, the crisis in the Gulf becomes worse for South Louisiana. Our delicate ecosystem is being destroyed as we wait for BP and the federal government to take action. Every day, the Deepwater Horizon well is spewing thousands of barrels of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. As the oil reaches the marsh, fishermen are giving chilling reports of dead fish, birds and other wildlife. The seafood supply is dwindling everyday, hurting our famed restaurants and our tourism industry. (more)
