Burgess, M.D., was elected to serve Texas' 26th Congressional District in 2003. He currently serves on the House Energy & Commerce Committee as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade. He also serves on the Rules Committee, the Helsinki Commission, and is the original founder of the Congressional Health Caucus.
