William Temple

William Temple - William Temple has been a re-enactor since 1995, and participates as various historic characters, all the way from the 1680’s to the 1860’s. He has 12 different period outfits for events all over the Southeast. He has a business, Time Past Studio, which travels with him to his events and art shows. He paints historic subjects in oil and watercolors, produces limited edition prints, writes and performs historic music, and writes poetry. He has a published book of poetry, “Poetry for the Heart.” He is a pastor of a Bible church in Brunswick, Georgia,- “Maranatha,” where he has served for 18 years. He is also a Vietnam veteran. He volunteered his services to the Tea Party movement last year in Atlanta, at the Tax Day Protest, and later led “The March on Washington,” and was highlighted in the “Tea Party Movie.” He is currently the Vice President of the Golden Isles Tea Party in Brunswick, and is focused in his presentations on returning our Nation to their founding documents through historic presentations. The 2nd Amendment is the key liberty, he believes, that must not be lost, or all the others are in jeopardy.

In the Christian scriptures, in the book of Romans, the apostle Paul addresses the natural downward spiral of mankind, away from the "Creator" (the same Creator mentioned in the Declaration of Independence), declaring: "although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were they thankful...." (more)

The biggest surprise for many California liberals Tuesday night was the total "blowout" of the proposition to legalize marijuana, despite the victories of Senator Boxer and Governor Moonbeam. (Did you watch his acceptance ramble? Jerry was obviously using something stronger than weed for that performance!) (more)

If you haven't read Judicial Watch's latest article concerning its investigation into the misuse of U.S. Air Force transportation by Madam Speaker Pelosi, you should. But to be fair, Her Majesty's abuse of military travel is nothing new for bureaucrats from either party; that's at least how it's justified after each election. My father, a deceased former Air Force major general, used to complain about how his branch of the service was required to maintain and pay for a fleet of aircraft of dubious military value; a fleet for our royal members of Congress to utilize at their every whim and whistle. And this includes all the maintenance and support personnel, as well as the crews. (I'm assuming the political elites feel it essential to practice should they ever reach the pinnacle of their art form, thereby being compelled to fly Air Force One. It's important to know just how to jog majestically up and down the stairs, or pirouette and wave effusively from the door. The fate of world governance might hinge on such talents. And if you're a liberal, you might even have to learn how to return a salute or two, if you know where to look for one.) (more)

Can I throw the national press a bone?  I mean, it's not an “October Surprise” or anything, but it's certainly a story with tea floating suspiciously in the water.  Can we ask the question: “Who gave the Tea Party Patriots a cool million dollars just before the election? Let that bag steep for a minute! (more)

“Providence (God) has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is their duty, as well as the privilege of our Christian nation [emphasis mine] to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” (more)

I find myself lately continually engaged in frustrating verbal exchanges with surprising numbers of my fellow citizens, who are prepared to argue that this country was “not” specifically founded as a Christian nation at its inception. (more)

Is it just me, or are almost all of Fox News’ female news anchors young, blond, and sexy?  According to my mother, who watches all Fox News (all the time), if you observe these women using her practiced, critical, judicial eye, all are forced to turn their torso’s sideways in their chairs, or cross their legs, or periodically tug at their creeping thigh-high dresses in an effort to keep themselves civilly under wraps, while at the same time commenting on the issues at hand.  It’s very distracting she says!  (I never noticed!) (more)

So many Americans are just not getting it.  And some of them are intentionally not getting it, while others who do get it, don’t want to get it. (more)

Whenever the left “wing-nut” media feels that they are about to be publicly embarrassed by looming events, they trot out the old “Special Report.” And the airing of “The Rise of the New Right” by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews is only the newest example of that desperate tactic. If it’s not a rerun in a presidential election year of the Kennedy assassination, then it’s a “Special Report.” And be assured, the media are breathing heavy ‘round the water-coolers and coffee pots in New York City and Washington DC this mid-term election year, frantic for some way to distract angry voters. Things are just not going as scripted for their would-be Messiah; that balm of off-shore goo anointing his ivy-league hands is not olive oil after all. Drip, drip, drip! And the oil is bubbling up to the gunnels of his Ship of State! “Don’t want to let a tragedy go to waste now, do we?” (more)

I was watching one of those vacuous cable shows this last weekend, the kind the media foist on the populace as cutting-edge informative journalism. You know them: everyone on the panel carefully reflective and poised, silly close-up grins at the introduction, panelists projecting those rehearsed almost constipated expressions that are meant to convince viewers that they are not really constipated, but deeply concerned. And the interaction is always accompanied with mild, challenging, but polite debate; followed by gratuitous moments of spontaneous levity, usually initiated by the host to ease the seriousness of the segment’s world-shattering discourse. And all of this is carefully choreographed in the studio: images of D.C.’s monuments floating and flying dramatically across the screen in sparkling 3D, while pulsating news-sounding music echoes the start or finish of each segment, providing a necessary cue for viewers and panelists alike to answer nature’s call or grab a snack before the next “riveting” sequence resumes. (more)

It is very frustrating to see some people in the Tea Party movement not get the recognition they deserve; but if I can help one young man receive his rightful place in The Tea Party Hall of Fame it would be Mr. Matthew Perdie. Yes, I would recommend him for “The Teapot Award of Merit and Valor Extraordinaire with Oak Leaf Clusters” (and without kisses on both cheeks- that’s for the French to do.) (more)

As the self-appointed official “Pastor of the Tea Party Movement”- a title I claim by the “law of Imminent Grass-rootiness” (coined that one myself), not to mention “biblical primogeniture,” or, for that matter, by that almost divine American imprimatur: “first come, first served”- I approach my subject with great zealotry. And should you doubt my right to this title, I have the tricorn hat and frilly collar to prove it! And you don’t! So, don’t be surprised, according to the same laws, if I don’t just elevate myself to “Vicar of the Tea Party Movement" at some point. Might have to purchase a more elaborate hat though! (more)

Reading the entirety of Patrick Henry's famous speech from March 23, 1775 (not just the "...give me liberty or give me death!" part), struck me a few weeks ago by its coincidental anniversary with the signing of the House version of the "Health Care Bill" by President Obama, on of all dates: March 23, 2010- just 235 short years after Patrick's rousing call to arms.  (And that's about the normal time period for any republic to flourish before sliding into the morass of fiscal demise, followed by despotic intervention to "rescue the nation from itself.")  And Patrick's clarion call to arms against the tyranny of the British government was the only option available, since at that time the colonies had as he states, "no elections." (more)

As I prepare this week for the big Tax Day Tea Party Protest in Atlanta on April 15; dry-cleaning my colonial garb, blacking my boots, adjusting the turkey feather in the tricorn, folding my Gadsden flag, and polishing my teapot, I reflect on what Tea Party success in November may well mean for the movement. This protest, in conjunction with all the other attendant protests nationally, will certainly alert the national media and reluctant politicos to the certainty that we have not been diminished or lost any of our enthusiasm. In fact, just the opposite is true. And I look forward to giving my modified and updated version of Patrick Henry's famous speech from March 23, 1775, to a larger group than last years record setter. It is truly a rabble-rousing speech I think, with significant connections historically. (I'll provide my version of it next week after I return.) (more)

It is engrossing to me to see what the first president of the United States had to say on a variety of topics, and how amazingly prophetic his comments are in today's American culture. And not only “his” quotes, but the rest of the Founders as well, if you care to read or goggle them. And I, like many other Americans, floundering for years, yelling at the TV, and gasping to get a breath as this society inevitably slid into cynical hedonism, am rediscovering the great but forgotten men and women of honor, who have been so diligently removed from the texts of our and our children's curriculum; except, of course in the humorous caricatures of President’s Day sales. And yes, I like many others have only just begun to get a full education on their wisdom; and that only because of the desperate situation that we find ourselves in, as this Republic continues dying one slow lash after another; a slice of our liberty peeled away one strip at a time. The protected group is now the goal of government largesse, not the guardian of individuals in their own pursuit of happiness. (more)
