The course of my life roughly coincides with the post-Roe v. Wade abortion debate in America. The Supreme Court decision was issued on January 22, 1973, a few days after my first birthday. On January 24th thousands of marchers will rally in Washington, D.C. for the 38th annual March for Life, joining the many millions who have marked this gruesome anniversary in American political life over the course of the last four decades. (more)

MSNBC and talk radio host Ed Schultz delivered his address to the progressive congregation of bloggers at the Netroots Nation conference, and he had some strong words for the White House. Alluding to the Shirley Sherrod fiasco, Schultz quipped that the White House “must have a sissy room,” and that despite the fact that he “busted my ass for Obama,” the President visited Special Report with Bret Baier, “in my time slot.” (more)

Larry Kissel, hosted a red-blooded gun show on Thursday to fire up his campaign ahead of election season. And when the all-American stunt drew online criticism, D’Annunzio apparently responded with posts calling detractors “racist” and “rednecks.” (more)

Despite President Obama’s sweeping condemnations of the evils and excesses of Washington lobbyists during the 2008 campaign and his promises to change “business as usual in Washington,” spending on lobbying hasn’t declined since the beginning of last year. In fact, it’s gone up to record levels, casting doubt on the efficacy of the president’s policies and leaving public interest groups questioning whether lobbyists — registered and unregistered — have gained power since his inauguration. (more)
