Americans are learning that ObamaCare will pile on insurmountable debt and cause government to encroach on every area of our lives. ObamaCare is, as Yuval Levin said, an “unmitigated disaster—for our health care system, for our fiscal future, and for any notion of limited government.” And the more we learn about the specific provisions, the more we discover that the bill does not reflect our values—faith, family and freedom—nor does it strengthen those principles that are the foundation of a great nation. (more)

Billions of more documents” will be have to be filled out by small businesses for the IRS so that a “spendthrift Congress can shake a few extra bucks out of” them to pay for ObamaCare. They will have to spend countless hours to “gather information,” such as about the person they buy a used car from, and the mom-and-pop landlords who lease space to them, even if the small business has to spend more money gathering the information than the IRS will collect in taxes as a result.  (The new health care law will raise far more revenue by taking away medical-tax deductions of “15 million very sick people” with “major medical expenses” starting in 2013.) (more)

When President Obama addressed Congress in September on health care, he assured them and the American people that he would not sign a plan that adds one dime to the deficit, neither now nor in the future. This focus on cost is appropriate in the context of a federal deficit of $1.4 trillion and a national debt in excess of $12 trillion. Now, seven months later, the House is considering the Senate bill that proposes spending roughly $1 trillion over the next 10 years in order to save money. In order to get the Congressional Budget Office estimates in a favorable light, numerous budget gimmicks were employed. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) estimates that when you strip out these budget gimmicks, the bill would add $460 billion to the deficit over the first 10 years, and in the second 10 years, that deficit would increase by $1.4 trillion. That’s a bit more than a dime. (more)

Democrat leaders have said a lot of things during this year-long health care debate that most people just don’t believe. They’ve told you their plan will decrease the cost of health care, cut future deficits, and that “if you like what you have, you can keep it.” And you’ve surely heard hundreds of times the false claim that Republicans don’t have ideas of our own. (more)

There was absolutely nothing new in President Obama’s much-heralded speech Wednesday. No game-changing ideas. No genuine efforts at bipartisanship. No change in his determination to impose government control over our health sector for decades to come. (more)
