In a last-ditch effort to pass a global-warming bill before this year’s mid-term election drastically alters the political landscape in Congress, Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) have introduced the “American Power Act.” (more)

Sometime before June 7, the so-called Murkowski resolution to block EPA regulation of greenhouse gases will be voted on in the Senate. Democrats up for re-election this fall may want to think twice about a knee-jerk “no” vote. (more)

With months of closed doors meeting and cutting deals with industry, Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) finally unveiled their cap-and-trade bill. After helping to craft the bill, this bill contains many giveaways to industry and the end result is this bill that will increase the cost of every aspect of business and cost every individual citizen to turn on the lights and put gas in the car. (more)

There’s a good reason the carbon emissions fell by a record 7 percent in 2009: The trade off for reduced carbon dioxide emissions is reduced economic activity. Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) admitted as much last year, and today he and colleague Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) will unveil a Senate cap-and-trade bill that will call for the same draconian cuts in CO2 as the House version passed last year. (more)

There are only three things you need to know about the Kerry-Lieberman cap-and-trade bill that was released Wednesday—it will accomplish nothing for the environment; it will cost a lot of money and it will financially enrich and politically empower a host of scoundrels. (more)

Major players in Washington cheered the latest version of an energy bill, which tries to buy votes with “something for almost everyone.” But beleaguered consumers will get stuck with skyrocketing bills after others feast on new government benefits. (more)

Today’s press conference teaming Big Business and the left-wing coalition is in fact an embarrassing display of the worst that today’s Washington has to offer. To understand why, consider this excerpt from Chapter 5 of “Power Grab: How Obama’s Green Policies Will Steal Your Freedom and Bankrupt America: Picking Your Pockets for Political Payola” (citations omitted). (more)

The number 13 is proving quite fortuitous for me, if not so much for the global warming industry. (more)

Those of you worrying on Wall Street, please do not be distracted by the president’s apparent assault. He’s still got your back. With the push beginning Monday to push through a “cap-and-trade” energy tax and rationing scheme—without committee hearings and possibly, according to Harry Reid, even using “reconciliation” again—your big “ask” appears to be in better shape than ever for being crammed down on the rest of us. (more)

As the nation continues to face record unemployment, it seems the newest public relations effort emanating from the halls of Washington is to paint all new legislation as the answer to rising joblessness. Most recently, the push for a federal energy bill has included the idea that passing cap-and-trade legislation—or some version of a comprehensive energy bill—will create much needed “green jobs,” meant to employ many of those who, because of the recent move to extend unemployment benefits, are depleting their states’ unemployment benefit funds. (more)

Recently, the president announced his new proposal for offshore drilling. Some argue this was a political tactic by the Administration to further their agenda and pass cap-and-trade legislation. Nonetheless, I hope the president is being sincere about efforts to use our resources here at home because ultimately our nation needs a commonsense, comprehensive energy plan that moves us to sustained energy independence. Gaining this independence is a matter of national security for the United States. (more)

Can the Obama administration’s desperate attempts to cover their true far left nature with centrist rhetoric and promises become any more transparent? Yesterday, the President announced “an expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration” in selected areas off the coasts of the United States. The President claims this announcement was made “in order to sustain economic growth and produce jobs,” but nobody believes him. Just take a quick look at today’s newspaper reporting: (more)

High stakes, tall-odds, last-second heaves and long-shot upsets—to some, March Madness represents one of the most exciting events on the calendar, and among the most heavily wagered on as well. But who’s talking about basketball? On Capitol Hill, more than a dozen competing energy and environmental proposals are in the process of making their final case to the committee, and gearing up for a furious race to the finish in 2010. (more)

When it comes to our economy, where are we going, and why are we in this hand-basket? That’s a question worth answering before Congress reauthorizes legislation to boost government investment in science and technology and, in turn, manufacturing. (more)

The Environmental Protection Agency is on a course that will damage the environment, not protect it. Just observe EPA’s willingness to do so while spouting false statements to make its case on regulating greenhouse gases. (more)

There has been a flurry of activity in the past few weeks over EPA’s threat to regulate green house gas emissions through the Clean Air Act. Two weeks ago, a group of eight Democratic senators lead by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) sent a letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson pleading that they slow the pace on any regulatory program that would cap carbon emissions. In response, Jackson expressed little sympathy for both the senators’ concerns and the potential economic harm to their constituents by outlining an enforcement effort that she claims will begin in 2011. (more)
