GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (Oct. 24, 2012) Hurricane Sandy makes landfall at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Hurricane Condition of Readiness 3 (COR III) was set base-wide in preparation for storm winds greater than 50 knots. Among a myriad of precautionary measures taken at the installation, all beaches were closed and all boating, diving and recreational swimming was suspended. All schools, roads and facilities were closed.
