This week Congress made inroads towards reversing the Federal Communications Commissions attempt to implement Net Neutrality regulatory rules on Internet Service Providers that would disallow the use of various business models.  Representatives using part of the Congressional Review Act (CRA) known as the Joint Resolution of Disapproval passed House Resolution 37, introduced by Rep. The U.S. House of Representatives voted to defund National Public Radio (NPR) from all public sources of funding, including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), on Thursday afternoon, 228-192. Colorado Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn’s bill, HR 1076, cuts off all federal taxpayer money from being used to support NPR. The publicly-funded radio network currently receives funding through CPB and through its member stations, which are forced to use part of their federal grants to purchase programming from the national headquarters. (more)

In wake of conservative James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas sting videos of National Public Radio (NPR) senior executives, House Republicans are set to vote Thursday to defund NPR completely. They’re expected to pass a bill that would pull all taxpayer money out of NPR, including the money that’s funneled through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). (more)
