Hit the panic button early and hit it often. (more)

For years we have heard the common refrain that “the people don’t get it,” or we’re “stupid,” or we “really don’t care.” Ignoring the Americans who serially vote Democrat because they have been bought off with welfare payments or some other benefit, I have always argued otherwise, and Reagan’s 1980 and 1984 landslide victories bore me out. Of course, as president, the senior Bush quickly smashed that resurgent national spirit with a “wicked political pivot” back to insipid mediocrity. (more)

It was clear who James Carville supported during the 2008 Democratic primary, squarely for Sen. Hillary Clinton over Sen. Barack Obama. So how much has changed? After telling an old campaign joke, ['If Hillary gave him one of her balls, they’d both have two'], Carville went on CNN to reiterate “I’m not sorry and I don’t apologize.” (more)

House Republicans Thursday reacted strongly against Rep. Michele Bachmann’s decision to run for a top leadership post in the new majority, looking to nip in the bud any chance that she might attract support from the substantially large group of incoming freshman lawmakers. (more)

In American politics, nothing is permanent. On election night this year, that should be the thought running through the minds of the liberal pundits who believed they were dancing on the Republican Party’s grave two years earlier. In those halcyon days, James Carville wrote of a 40-year Democratic majority. The New York Times Book Review’s Sam Tanenhaus declared “the death of conservatism.” And Time magazine ran a cover with the GOP’s logo under the heading “Endangered Species” (note the editorial decision not to use a question mark). (more)

With Election Day fast approaching, Democrats have revealed their strategy for retaining the majority in Congress: xenophobia. For all their talk of being true cosmopolitans, President Obama and the Democrat campaign committees have hitched their success to talk of foreign influence in American elections and the belief that foreigners are somehow responsible for stealing American jobs. (more)

Liberals sit down with the New York Times the way Catholics enter the confessional: To make a clean breast of their sins and to ask for absolution. Except that the Gray Lady offers no promise of confidentiality. (more)

Let’s jump right into this. The left is officially so desperate to pick up votes that they have stooped to using distracting, divisive issues to move attention away from the defining issue of this election cycle: THE ECONOMY. (more)

Three months to go before the midterm elections and the conservative airwaves abound with optimism.  If it’s “all about the economy, stupid,” that explains why the Democrats are circling the wagons.  Still, I’m not nearly as sanguine as the conservative talk-show hosts that a critical mass of American voters will connect the dots, and therefore make no predictions about the outcome.  I do predict, however, even as the campaign speeches become increasingly strident, that you won’t hear the following from America’s Liberal elites anytime soon: (more)

BP is deserving of no apology. The real apology should be to the American people. (more)

June 18th, 2010

Crucial offers to help clean up BP’s oil spill “have come from Belgian, Dutch, and Norwegian firms that … possess some of the world’s most advanced oil skimming ships.” But the Obama administration wouldn’t accept the help, because doing so would require it to do something past presidents have routinely done: waive rules imposed by the Jones Act, a law backed by unions. (more)

These days the left isn’t all too happy with President Obama. (more)

BP, which is responsible for the terrible oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, has a safety record infinitely worse than other oil companies, which make safety a priority in drilling for oil. ABC News reports that “BP ran up 760 ‘egregious, willful’ safety violations, while Sunoco and Conoco-Phillips each had eight, Citgo had two and Exxon had one comparable citation.” Exxon, the oil company most critical of global warming hysteria, had the best safety record. BP’s record is so bad that it has been described as a “serial environmental criminal.” (more)
