In an interview published Wednesday with the Media Research Center’s Brent Bozell, Rep. Joe Walsh, an Illinois Republican, accused the national media of protecting President Obama because he is African-American. (more)
Conservatives are used to having their intelligence insulted by the mainstream media. I’m therefore grateful to liberal columnist Jonathan Alter for having the magnanimity to insult the intelligence not only of conservatives, but of the entire electorate. (more)
I have spent the past few years predicting economic Armageddon on TV and radio shows across America. I have predicted the collapse of the dollar, the decline of the economy, the dangers of the debt and the Fed, and the incredible rise of gold and silver. All these predictions have been “on the money,” while the liberal media has scoffed, rolled their eyes, and called me a fool. Monday’s downgrade of the U.S. economy by Standard & Poor’s should be a wake-up call to everyone, even the media. America is in deep trouble. Economic Armageddon is fast approaching. The media need only look in the mirror to find the fool. (more)
He has been the first crybaby-in-chief, the first gasbag-in-chief, and the leader of Gasbagistan. (more)
Daniel Snyder, the despised owner of the Washington Redskins, has decided to take more control over the use of his team’s name. He recently told the Washington Post to stop using the team’s name in anything other than a fair-use way. That way, Snyder can create his own TV shows, magazines, and radio broadcasts using the Redskins’ name. So the Post now calls its “Redskins Insider” blog “Football Insider.” After all, the name “Redskins” attracts eyeballs, and why shouldn’t Snyder cash in? (more)
When Jared Loughner opened fire on Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, her staff, and bystanders Saturday, I was sitting in a crowded auditorium two hours north of the shooting in Arizona’s capital city, Phoenix, with over a thousand Republican precinct committeemen. (more)
NPR recently ran a two-part series on media bias. The reports, by David Folkenflik, were quite good, with a couple major flaws. Folkenflik ignored the question of who gets hired by the major media and why. Isn’t it time to do a nuts-and-bolts investigation of who gets brought on to the Washington Post, New York Times, CBS, et al, and who does not? Answering that question may answer why the media has lost its capacity to report fairly, not to mention delight, compel, and surprise — characteristics that, idiotic pronouncements about “objectivity” aside, are part of what makes good journalism. Comeback kids in politics, as in sports or any other competitive endeavor, are those that truly surprise us. The more the media labels someone a comeback kid before the comeback, or a politician claims to be one, the more likely the characterization, win or lose, will turn out to be untrue. (more)
In the wake of a disappointing midterm election, left-leaning publications have trained their eyes on a sure target: conspiracy theories involving a television show, a grassroots political movement and a 20-year-old girl. (more)
GOP Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell called out a public access cable television station in Delaware for not running a 30-minute ad Sunday night or Monday morning, but a station executive told The Daily Caller the Tea Party favorite’s campaign is to blame this time around. (more)
Here’s a piece of advice if a journalist calls you for an interview: make sure you check said journalist’s Twitter page to see if he’s already made up his mind about you. (more)
There are few sights in modern life more ridiculous and sickening than watching a journalist try and explain why people hate him and his profession. When asked why this is so, the journalist will breathe in deeply, adjust his mien to express both noble victimhood and self-righteousness, and explain that he is disliked because he tells the truth. Sometimes people don’t like to hear the truth. (more)
It’s the oldest liberal political trick in the book and it works every single time thanks to the compliance of the liberal media; it’s the old political “bait and switch” tactic and here is how it works: (more)
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin blames her upside-down approval rating among independents on one of her favorite foils: the media. (more)
Ruth Graham took a page from her favorite cable news host’s playbook this week and went on vacation. However, unlike Keith, she’s spending her time off away from the computer. By Tuesday night’s episode of Countdown, we realized that our interns hadn’t built up the mental and physical fortitude they’d need to cope with Ruth’s usual assignment, so instead, we decided to have them scour the keith@keitholbermann.com inbox for new entries in the KeithOlbermann.com Cornell College essay contest. Though we’ve already announced official winners and runners up, we think some of the other entries we’ve received are worth sharing. (more)
Well it was a fabulous weekend in the Hamptons, where I’m usually loathe to go without my shotgun. But friends had a party and to the party you must go. It did not disappoint — a spirited game of whiffle ball (I got two hits and two strike outs — yes, I pitched), an excruciatingly long game of beer pong with Bill Schulz, swimming and frolicking in the grass. It was not without incident, however, as I left with 17 mosquito bites on my lower legs. I shaved my legs the next morning and my razor thought it was doing moguls at the Nagano Olympics. I looked like a leper, and that’s not leperist — a leper would have heartily agreed. (more)
Things haven’t been going well for Democrats lately. President Obama’s poll numbers are tanking. They’re at risk of losing control of the House and Senate. Their policies are unpopular. And they’re so jittery that last week they threw an African-American Department of Agriculture employee, Shirley Sherrod, under the bus before they had all the facts because they’re afraid of Fox News. Some people say this is all Barack Obama’s fault. He’s too ideological, too inexperienced, and too self-centered, and he’s led the Democratic Party astray. I disagree. I think Democrats have just lost their groove. (more)
MSNBC and talk radio host Ed Schultz delivered his address to the progressive congregation of bloggers at the Netroots Nation conference, and he had some strong words for the White House. Alluding to the Shirley Sherrod fiasco, Schultz quipped that the White House “must have a sissy room,” and that despite the fact that he “busted my ass for Obama,” the President visited Special Report with Bret Baier, “in my time slot.” (more)
Despite a total blackout from the liberal media in the New Orleans area, the Northshore Tea Party attracted 2,000 people to the Fleur de Lis Center in Mandeville on Saturday. This was the group’s largest crowd in their 18-month history as part of the incredible Tea Party movement, the most substantial political force to hit this country in decades. (more)
A recently published article titled Top Secret America by the Washington Post made a blatant attempt to destroy U.S. National Security and the U.S. Intelligence Community’s never ending attempt to ethically secure the persons of this great country. This flagrant attempt of belittling the very organizations that allows the Washington Post an opportunity to freely express itself is depressing and completely appalling!
