I am not a man of science. Biology is as far as I got in high school. I passed by the grace of an aging professor who blessed me with a D. Physics was an academic horror I was asked by faculty not to undertake. (more)

If there is a recurring tale in this new century, it is that the Gulf Coast is where political fortunes go to die. The Gulf in the 21st century has become the delicate-yet-furious eco-nightmare in which central planners and corporate heads get bogged down, before having their heads placed upon the electronic guillotine of cable news. (more)

THE PROBLEM: I would like to begin with an ancient yet relevant and grave reminder to my fellow citizens from the Greek, Aesop; “united we stand, divided we fall”. Simplistic, perhaps, but its meaning remains as true today as it was in the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. Despite President Obama’s “firm pledge” during the campaign that families making under $250,000 per year would see “any form of tax increase,” the president told CNBC’s John Harwood that he was open to the idea of a value-added tax. “I know that there’s been a lot of talk around town lately about the value-added tax,” the president said. “That is something that has worked for some countries. It’s something that would be novel for the United States. And before, you know, I start saying ‘this makes sense or that makes sense,’ I want to get a better picture of what our options are.” (more)

If ever the American Medical Association deems ‘en masse paralyzing confusion’ a pre-existing condition warranting treatment, I have a hunch the tab for national health care may soar north. In the immortal words of Joe Biden (I love that guy), the passage of health care reform is a ‘big fu#*ing deal’. No doubt. But is it a good deal? (more)

Following the vote and passage of universal health care in the U.S., an endless string of alleged “threats” began rapidly circulating the mainstream media with feverish fury, portraying the Tea Party and its attendees as nothing short of “racist,” “crazy” and “homophobic,” based off virtually zero evidence to back up their claims. (more)

It is not often that I pay much attention to those who tread beyond the margins of respectable political opinion, much less on the fringes of American society. But after reading a member of Young Americans for Liberty’s response to my recent article here at The Daily Caller, I’d like to volunteer some thoughts. (more)

I was three weeks into my first classes to become a certified teacher when I decided I had had enough. Not of my professors—both Karen, my Foundations of Education instructor, and Diane, who teaches Introduction to Special Education, are first-rate professors. They know the material, and are passionate about teaching. Both have good senses of humor. The fact that they are both attractive doesn’t hurt either. And I certainly wasn’t tired of the other students. They are bright and compassionate. (more)
