Medical marijuana dispensaries are now bedfellows with unions; retired law enforcement officers have linked arms with longhairs; and Democrats like Sen. Barbara Boxer have ditched their progressive stances on personal freedom in order to appear tough on crime, even as one of Boxer’s own staffers was arrested on Capitol Hill for possessing weed. (more)

While watching the most recent episode of “Mad Men,” which focused on a dilemma faced by Roger Sterling (played by the brilliant John Slattery) and Joan Harris (played by that uber-woman and equally brilliant Christina Hendricks) — Joan’s pregnancy — it struck me: even though the pro-abortion feminists maliciously swapped the word “abortion” with the word “choice” decades ago, while regulating pro-lifers to “anti-choice” or “anti-abortion,” perhaps the better term would be “pro-decision.” (more)

Numerous news outlets have reported on the first lady’s proclivity for high fashion. Famed celebrity biographer Kitty Kelley, known as much for her insights into the private lives of prominent celebrities as for the criticism she attracts, will release on Tuesday what is expected to be a blockbuster look into the life of America’s biggest television personality, Oprah Winfrey. The unofficial book on the billionaire talk show host, Oprah: A Biography (Crown, $30), contains transcripts of thousands of interviews that Winfrey has given, as well as hundreds of interviews that Kelley herself conducted. (more)
