YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Bill Warner is hardly a naive man. He ran his own engineering firm for three decades, and sold the assets just before the economy tanked. While some neighbors have since been foreclosed upon, Warner is resurfacing his flagstone deck. (more)

It’s a pink-letter year for Republican women. This season, more female GOP candidates than in any previous election cycle are running for national and state offices, beating the previous record year – 1994 – by 38 women. That’s a surprising development for the GOP. Gov. Charlie Crist is now, without question, the poster boy for the greatest risk the GOP faces in 2010 and beyond. The Governor told Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday less than a month ago that he was a Republican and that he would run as a Republican. Moreover, he said he would support the GOP nominee, presumable Marco Rubio, if he were to lose that primary to Marco Rubio. It is now clear with his announcement yesterday of changing his party affiliation; that Governor Crist has revealed his character, or severe lack thereof. The questions of with whom will he caucus should he become a Senator or his position on any given issue must at this point be considered suspect at best. (more)

The Atlantic reports that Crist’s people tried to get in touch with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s people (you’re not anyone these days without a posse). But Emanuel, famous for his no-nonsense attitude, wouldn’t take the call. (more)
