Long time no see! Been very busy, working hard on my rhubarb pie business (I didn’t tell you?!), which I’ve started out of my apartment. There isn’t too much rhubarb growing in Lower Manhattan, so it’s required much travel. And I’ve had to recruit several experts to help me get the process down and perfect a recipe. The Washington Post sure disliked Glenn Beck’s new Libertarian-ish thriller, The Overton Window, which came out today. The book’s plot centers around an evil person who attempts to stage a coup on the United States government, and his son, who attempts to stage a coup on some lady named Molly. There is also an Eliot Spitzer cameo! “The suspense of The Overton Window comes largely from wondering when the thrills will begin” is one of the kindest lines in the review. The piece’s lede takes a less charitable tack: “The success of Glenn Beck’s novel, The Overton Window, will be measured not by its literary value (none), or its contribution to the thriller genre (small), or the money it rakes in (considerable), but rather by the rebelliousness it incites among anti-government extremists.” (more)

A Houston talk show host this week called for the bombing of a mosque if it’s built near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City. (more)

Russian billionaire and new Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov was in extremely high demand among reporters on his tour through New York this week. At a press conference on Wednesday, which lasted almost an hour, reporters were allowed to ask questions one at a time. It was a scrum. (more)

Talk show host Glenn Beck and Goldline International, a California-based gold retailer, have colluded to use fear mongering tactics to bilk investors, according to a stinging report issued Tuesday by Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.). (more)

Dr. Drew Pinsky’s alleged stalker, Charles Pearson, has been apprehended by police in Los Angeles after making threats against the ‘Celebrity Rehab’ star and his family. Pearson, a reported transient, allegedly threatened to kill the doctor and his family, claiming that Pinsky had implanted a chip on Pearson’s genitals through which he was trying to communicate. (more)

A Florida radio host who boasts a following of loyal listeners called “Bubba Army” says the accusation that he verbally harassed a black, female professional wrestler called Awesome Kong over the phone with racial epithets is the “most absurd sh— I’ve seen or heard.” (more)

The recording industry and the National Association of Broadcasters have been battling for years over the so-called “performance tax,” which would require radio stations to pay royalties to artists whose music they play on air. Currently broadcast radio stations are exempt from paying the royalties, also known as performance rights, while satellite and cable radio stations are forced to pay up. (more)

Air America, a politically liberal radio network, was found dead Thursday in its New York City offices at the age of 5. After an autopsy, the cause of death was listed as cultural and fiscal asphyxiation. (more)
