This morning I asked Rush Limbaugh what he thought of references to him on the private left-wing journalist discussion group JournoList. As reported in the Daily Caller, an NPR producer named Sarah Spitz wrote on JournoList that if she witnessed Limbaugh dying of a heart attack, she would “laugh loudly like a maniac and watch his eyes bug out.” (more)
Journolist update: Liberals wished death on FOX News, Rush Limbaugh — Targets of Journolist respond with disproportionate maturity — Democrats will add billions to the deficit today — Maine solves the public pension problem (not really) — Umpteenth bad poll comes out showing Washington is getting a helluva makeover in November — The USDA’s disastrous image problem (more)
Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh famously said he hoped President Obama would “fail” in January, 2009. Almost a year later, when Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital with chest pains, Washington Post reporter David Weigel had a wish of his own. “I hope he fails,” Weigel cracked to fellow liberal reporters on the “Journolist” email list-serv. When President Obama was asked if he would play a round of golf with his talk-radio nemesis Rush Limbaugh, the response, relayed by a top Democrat, was: “Limbaugh can play with himself.” (more)
Just hours after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh wondered on his show if maybe, just maybe, “hardcore environmentalist wackos” had sabotaged the Deepwater with an explosion that killed 11 people and is bringing the Gulf economy to its knees. The president is trying to trick Rush Limbaugh into talking about himself and would rather engage in “character assassination” than debate conservatives in the “Arena of Ideas,” the conservative talker charges in an e-mail to POLITICO. (more)
Barack Obama’s tongue-lashing of conservative talk-show titans Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck this week could prove a winner for both sides. (more)
The “Fairness Doctrine” (what MSNBC host Ed Schultz calls for in the below video) is a brainchild of the far left. If implemented, it would force media owners to provide “equal time” to opposing political viewpoints. (more)
As I sat down to read the teleprompter in my newscast the first day after the House’s passage of the health bill, I could have predicted this story would be included, produced by the late-night writers and producers, all of them vetted for the “proper” way of thinking. Here it is for your reading pleasure: obligatory, boilerplate unquestioning mainstream media stuff, in the exact form it scrolled across the teleprompter today. (more)
Bernstein does not suggest the stereotypical “gun nut” of anti-handgun straw-man arguments — a yahoo itchy to open fire for the hell of it, anytime, anywhere. That’s not to say he doesn’t share much in common with those who fall under that umbrella. He thinks Obama is a disaster. He agrees with Rush Limbaugh. (He has no opinion of Bill O’Reilly because he hasn’t owned a TV in many years.) He loves goading liberals, and if the Tennessee legislature proposed to let kindergarten teachers pack heat in the sandbox, he would probably offer an MNEA discount. (more)
Former President George W. Bush pushed back Sunday against criticism — levied most prominently by talk radio host Rush Limbaugh — that his successor, President Barack Obama, was somehow politicizing the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. (more)
This week’s uproar over racially charged comments attributed to Sen. Harry Reid reminded The Daily Caller of other uncomfortable race-related flubs by Washington political types. Some highlights: (more)
