Summer 2024 Editorial Internship
Are you addicted to reading the AP Stylebook? Do misplaced commas cause you to fly into a world-ending nervous breakdown? If so, The Daily Caller has an outlet for your frustration. With over 20 million readers a month, The Daily Caller, a 24-hour online news publication founded by Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel, is looking for an editorial intern who is interested in a fast-paced, exciting workplace that values motivation and innovation. We’re searching for bright and focused individuals who can work within deadlines and are dedicated to the integrity and growth of the publication.
As an editorial intern at The Daily Caller, you will work closely with some of the most politically savvy editors and reporters in the business, doing background research, transcribing interviews, cleaning up copy, crafting the perfect headline and helping craft social media posts. As an intern, you will also be able to write and publish your own pieces on our website, allowing you to create a portfolio of work.

News Clipper

Do you often find yourself yelling at cable news hosts, mocking them when they let partisanship get control of a segment? Would you like to channel your obsession with news into an outlet that has other people yelling along with you? Then we have the job for you.

The Daily Caller is seeking several video clippers who can capture those viral moments and turn them into articles for mass consumption across a wide range of platforms.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Candidates should have the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-heavy news environment and turn articles around in a timely fashion.

Familiarity with the current political landscape is a plus, as is a good eye for what will spark interest on social media.

Candidates should also possess basic writing skills, a good handle on grammar and a pathological aversion to plagiarism.

Associate Editor

The Daily Caller is looking for a full-time associate editor to join its dedicated and dynamic team. The full-time associate editor position is not remote; the candidate must be able to work in the office in Washington, D.C. 

A candidate for this role must be an efficient and competent copy editor with good knowledge of AP style. The candidate should also be capable of editing news stories for accuracy and readability, assuring that the sourcing is legitimate and done properly. He or she must also have excellent attention to detail and a desire to maintain objectivity when editing and pitching news.

Responsibilities for the position include copy editing and publishing incoming news stories, pitching stories to reporters, collaborating with writers and helping with the management of the website.

The candidate must have excellent news judgment, with an eye for what stories are compelling to our readers.The candidate should also have a strong knowledge of U.S. policy and politics.

Defense Reporter/Analyst

The Daily Caller News Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable, Conservative Defense Reporter/Analyst to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in defense and military affairs, with expertise in writing, research, and news analysis. This role requires a deep understanding of Department of Defense operations, legislative processes, policy development, and military preparedness.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on defense and military-related topics, including but not limited to the Department of Defense, legislation, policy initiatives, and news coverage.
  • Monitor and analyze military preparedness, recruitment issues, and procurement problems, staying abreast of developments and trends in these areas.
  • Track and report on defense-related issues throughout the presidential election cycle, providing insights and analysis on the positions of candidates and potential implications for the military.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan outlining recommended reforms for the military and Department of Defense, to be implemented on Day 1 of the new administration.
  • Produce high-quality written content, including articles, reports, briefings, and analyses, tailored to our audience and platform.
  • Collaborate with team members and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of content.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of defense and military operations, policies, and challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research, analyze complex issues, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Experience working in a media outlet, Department of Defense, think tank, or Capitol Hill preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Alignment with conservative principles and perspectives on defense and national security issues.
