MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican rock singer Alejandra Guzman’s plans for a Pacific beach vacation were reversed when she got into an argument with a fan during an airline flight, prompting the pilots to return the plane to Mexico City.

Guzman’s spokesman, Jose Zepeda, confirmed Monday that the Latin Grammy winner grew frustrated with another passenger who allegedly pestered her on a Mexicana Click flight Saturday to the Pacific coast resort of Huatulco.

The passenger, whose name has not been released, made a “very pushy and reckless attempt” to photograph Guzman, even though the singer and her assistant asked the fan to respect her privacy, Zepeda said.

No one was charged.

Guzman’s management company, Ocesa Sei Track, released a statement calling the incident “an altercation between two private parties that was not a major issue.”

Managers for Guzman — known for throaty, raspy renditions of pop-rock songs and a sometimes conflicted lifestyle — felt it necessary to say that “Guzman was not on drugs or drinking, as some media have erroneously mentioned.”

Guzman “only wanted to rest” while on the flight, having finished a show at 5 a.m. the morning of the incident, the statement said. “Alejandra Guzman’s assistant asked the passenger repeatedly and in a friendly way to respect the singer’s privacy on the flight. The passenger ignored that.”

The singer last made headlines in October, when she acknowledged she had been hospitalized with an infection from buttocks injections that she had had done to make herself “more beautiful.”

Guzman, 41, filed a complaint against the doctor who administered the treatment and the owner of the clinic where it was carried out. She said she has had other cosmetic procedures without incident to make herself more attractive to a new boyfriend.
