DOVER, Del. (AP) — The military mortuary in Delaware where casualties from overseas are brought back home is opening a new center for families who come to witness the return of their loved ones.

The Center for Families of the Fallen will open Wednesday at Dover Air Force Base. It will be staffed by counselors and support specialists to assist families who travel from all over the country.

Officials say the new center will be more convenient for families and for military mortuary officials, who have had to share space with the base’s active duty and reserve wings.

Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz will preside over the dedication Wednesday.
