HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police say a high school student has confessed to hiring a friend to kill his mother and that both have been charged with capital murder in her death.
Sgt. Brian Harris said Wednesday that Danish Minhas (Dah-NISH’ MIN’-hahs) told investigators that he hired 18-year-old Nur J. Mohamed to kill his mother because she was too controlling.
Minhas called police on Nov. 25 to say he found his mother, 43-year-old Tabassum Kham (TAB’-buh-sum Kom), fatally stabbed.
Harris said the rules Minhas objected to included having to be home by a certain hour, having to do chores and not being allowed to drive on freeways.
Police say both teens confessed to their roles in the killing.
A prosecutor’s office spokeswoman says both teens are in custody and neither has been assigned an attorney.
