LONDON (AP) — British media are reporting that the wife of Northern Ireland’s leader will step down as a lawmaker following revelations of her affair with a teenager.

The BBC and Britain’s Press Association cite unidentified sources within the socially conservative Democratic Unionist Party as saying Iris Robinson will relinquish her dual positions as parliamentarian in London and representative to Northern Ireland’s regional assembly within days.

Contact information for Robinson could not immediately be found Saturday. The phone at her party’s Belfast office rang unanswered.

Robinson, 60, had already said she would not run again, citing depression. But both she and her husband, Peter, have been under increased pressure since news of her affair broke.
