ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Vladimir Guerrero and the Texas Rangers have finalized a one-year contract that includes a mutual option for 2011.

The agreement was completed Monday after the eight-time All-Star and former AL MVP passed a physical.

Texas scheduled an afternoon news conference to introduce its new designated hitter.

Guerrero was also in the AL West for the past six seasons, helping the Los Angels win five division titles. Texas finished second last season, 10 games behind Los Angels

The Angels showed little interest in retaining Guerrero, who had two stints on the disabled list last year and turns 35 in February. Los Angeles signed free-agent slugger Hideki Matsui and kept Bobby Abreu with a $19 million, two-year contract.
